GARY JONES WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY

Hi there, and thanks very much for dropping into my website you are most very welcome.

I am a Professional Wildlife Photographer and Guide, based in North Wales close by to the beauty and ruggedness of the Welsh Coast and the mountains of Snowdonia. Since an early age I have had a passion for the outdoors and especially Wildlife, and by trying to photographically record what I saw in the wild, it eventually turned into my profession.

I am an accomplished mountaineer and spend a lot of my time in the Mountains but whatever I do and wherever I go the camera always comes with me. I now travel far and wide to photograph Wildlife, to many of my favourite places both in the UK and overseas, I adore Snowdonia from the rugged mountains down to the beautiful coastline and I have a real passion for Scotland, in particular The Cairngorms and the Western Isles, especially Mull.

Although I enjoy photographing all wildlife subjects my passion is birds, especially raptors, Ospreys being my absolute favourite bird, I spend a huge amount of time in the Spring and Summer photographing them.

When not out with the camera taking my own images, I deliver Workshops throughout many locations in the UK and abroad, and also Presentations to Camera clubs, Nature Societies, and many other Groups, working with many other individuals such as my friends Iolo Williams and Mike Dilger, and organizations such as Welsh Water, Cambrian Photography, Hawke Optics, Shimoda Design and Muck Boots.
Much of my wildlife photography is out in the Wild, but as a Professional Guide and Workshop host I will use Commercial hides for my Clients and some of my own Photography. I am very selective as to which hide owners I work with, a lot of time is taken in checking out the hide operation, and the care and attention paid to the Wildlife visiting the hides. All the people I associate with are very much conservation minded, and whilst it gives Clients great opportunities to get awesome images, the set ups that I use are undoubtedly helping in conserving the wildlife that man is persecuting in so many other ways.

For all my Photography I have always used Nikon cameras and lenses, there is nothing better, dual Z9’s being my cameras , and are mainly coupled up with 500mm f/4 and 300mm f/2.8 prime lenses, 180-600mm and 100-400mm zooms. I have always used Nikon and have consistently been blown away by the quality, consistency and fantastic optical performance.

I work in partnership with Cambrian Photography in Colwyn Bay, North Wales. They are in my opinion the best independent Camera Retailer on the High St, with exceptional customer care and service.

When I am out and about the kit is packed away in Shimoda Backpacks, it took me a lot of searching bags until I found the perfect bag, and Shimoda is that. I am pleased to be working withe them, and if you are looking to buy a Shimoda bag, visit their website Shimoda Designs and you can use my discount code GJWP10 to get yourself 10% off.

I am extremely proud to be associated with Hawke Nature, who kindly provide the binoculars that I use, they are top quality optics that are always first in the bag. If you are looking to buy new optics take a look at Hawke, you will not be disappointed, contact me and I can arrange some discount for you.

For me it is really important what goes on my feet, since discovering Muck Boots I have not once suffered with cold or wet feet… trust me there is nothing worse than having cold wet feet, this range of boots are just the job. I work in Partnership with The Muck Boot Company to promote their fantastic footwear, just visit the  MUCK BOOT COMPANY WEBSITE  for a 15% Discount use my code which is 2024GJPHOTOS15
