Join Gary in the glorious wilderness of Northern Sweden to photograph the ultimate Bird of Prey, The Golden Eagle.
The hides are situated close to the White Mountains nature reserve with mire, old forest and mountains in the background. and we will be using the amazing hides owned by Conny Lundstrom.
The timber hide contains a log burner heater, toilet and fits four photographers. There are eight photo holes, allowing each photographer to photograph small birds and eagle close ups. In the other direction, it is possible to photograph eagle, fox and other species in the landscape.
There is no better place to photograph Golden Eagles, on the edge of the Scandanavian Pine forests, from Connys heated purpose built hides.
Everything is included in the cost of this trip except your flights from the UK to Northern Sweden, where the workshop starts, which flights to book will be communicated to you, booking is very simple.
Included in the cost are airport transfers, accommodation, all food, guidance and tuition. Kalvtrask is a very small village in Northern Sweden, so there is little to spend money on, so you don’t need a lot of spending money.
It is possible to photograph golden eagle, goshawk, red fox and red squirrel. There are smaller birds that are frequent visitors such as bullfinch, greenfinch, great tit, blue tit, willow tit, common redpoll, common jay, great spotted woodpecker, grey-headed woodpecker, magpie and raven. Other species are rare but sometimes show such as waxwing, snow bunting.
In terms of equipment required…
Since there are at least two photo holes at each hide, having two telephoto lenses is best. For the close ups a range of 200-400mm is ideal and for the longer distance shots, between 400-600mm.
Sweden is an incredible Country to visit, the people are ever so friendly, it’s a lovely clean place, and we will be staying in the home of Conny and his wife Catarina, who really do look after us.
Gary only ever takes a small group of 3 to Sweden, ensuring that he is personally on hand with you every minute that you are on the hides to guide and ensure you return home from a memorable experience and awesome images.
