Gary will once again be working in Grantown on Spey, set in the magical Cairngorms National Park which will be our base for this fantastic workshop into the heart of the Scottish Highlands. The base for the complete stay will be the amazing Grant Arms Hotel located in the Centre of Grantown https://www.grantarmshotel.com
The Grant Arms Hotel has changed a lot since Queen Victoria stayed here in 1860. Built in 1765 during the reign of King George III and situated in the Cairngorms National Park in Grantown on Spey, the Grant Arms Hotel is a traditional Scottish building, tastefully refurbished to provide thoroughly modern standards of comfort. The Grant Arms Hotel offers 50 en-suite bedrooms all with tea and coffee making facilities, toiletries, hair dryer, colour TV, direct dial phone and free WiFi. Your stay at the Hotel will include Dinner, Bed and Breakfast and a packed Lunch each day.
The Hotel is the ideal place to start our daily ventures into the Cairngorms to search out and photograph iconic Winter species such as Mountain Hare, Ptarmigan, Red Squirrels, Red Deer, Crested Tit, Snow Buntings and whatever else we manage to find. The Hotel itself sits close to the banks of the River Spey and also has a lot of local wildlife that we will have time to wander out in search of. Indeed if you take a look at the following website, you will see this is a totally unique place to stay, and very much caters for Wildlife loving guests http://www.bwwc.co.uk
The programme for the tour is very flexible to take into account the weather conditions and wildlife, but it is hoped that we will be able to venture up onto the high tops in search of Mountain Hare and Ptarmigan, have exclusive use of a fantastic Red Squirrel hide, and enjoy a 4×4 drive up into the hills to photograph Red Deer, plus photograph smaller iconic winter highland specialties, Crested Tits and Snow Bunting. The weather conditions could determine we could not access safely the high mountains, in this case we will do our best to give you other photographic opportunities.
There will be a fair bit of walking on this tour, and you will require a decent level of fitness, as to reach the Hares and Ptarmigan in particular this will almost certainly require some hill walking.
Cost for the Tour is £1650
