Red Kite and Buzzard Ground Level Photography Workshop

This ground level hide is located in the fabulous Gigrin Farm Red Kite Centre, in the heart of mid Wales, surrounded by the beautiful landscapes of the Elan and Wye valleys.

This is an amazing opportunity to photograph the iconic national bird of Wales, the Red Kite, and also Buzzards that visit in good numbers.

The ground level perspective of the hide will offer you a completely different view point to photograph these stunning raptors.

Food is placed out for the Red Kites 365 days a year by Gigrin, and alongside this we will strategically place down more food to create photographic positions to give you the best of the action to photograph.

At this time of year Gigrin is closed to normal visitors so we will have absolutely no disturbance whilst in the hide.

There is tea and coffee available in the hide, and it will be heated on colder days.

In terms of camera equipment, the ideal lens choice would be 300mm to 500mm, a bean bag or gimbal on a plate.

The Workshop will commence at Gigrin at 1pm on the Saturday with the session in the hide, followed by a Sunday morning wander along the Elan Valley, after lunch at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre, another afternoon session at the hide.
