Join me down at Gigrin Farm in mid Wales to photograph one of the most elegant and graceful Birds of Prey, located in the most beautiful countryside, in the heart of Mid Wales, overlooking both the Wye and Elan Valleys, and just half a mile from the market town of Rhayader.
Gigrin is without doubt the best place to photograph Red Kites, with the stunning backdrop of the Welsh Countryside, the spectacle of having hundreds of Kites feeding metres in front of you has to be seen to be believed.
For the afternoon we will have exclusive use of the primary Photography hide that puts you in the best place for great views of the birds, with a large opening to shoot from giving you unrestricted access with your camera.
PLUS… I will be down in the Elan Valley that morning, about a 10 minute drive from the Farm, where I will be having a wander hoping to see various Raptors such as Peregrine, Buzzard and Kites plus down on the river Kingfishers and Dipper. And it’s a given to visit the spectacular dam at the head of the valley. A bit of lunch in the splendid cafe in the visitor centre in time to be up at Gigrin well in time before the Kite feeding starts, you are more than welcome to join me in the morning.
This really is a great experience, my previous workshops here have yielded tremendous images, and these dates have been chosen deliberately with the hope of crystal clear cold winter air, frosted fields, Snow on the ground (hopefully) but whatever the conditions the Birds are the star of the show…. as well as the Kites there will also be Buzzards and lots of Crows, Rooks, Ravens etc.
