A Brand new workshop for 2026, photographing the White Tailed Eagles that live beside stunning Loch Shiel in North West Scotland.
We will sail from the popular village of Glenfinnan, if you are a Harry Potter fan you can tie the trip in with a visit to the Viaduct that features in the film just above the village. The MV Sileas offers you the opportunity to sail into and visit one of Britain’s few remaining wilderness areas, where regular sightings of Golden Eagles and Red Deer are common, along with the White Tailed Eagle.
Accessible only by boat, the eighteen-mile length of Loch Shiel, once a sea-loch but reshaped by the retreating glaciers of the last Ice Age, contains a wide variety of wildlife amidst stunning mountain scenery. The boat has a well-stocked Bar, a Toilet and is licenced to carry a maximum of 50 passengers (approximately 25 under cover)
For this trip you will be part of a small group, 6 maximum guests, the normal for these trips are at least 12, so this means you will have plenty of room about the boat to get into the best possible positions for the action, no need to sit in your allocated spot and hope you are lucky.
We leave the pontoon at Glenfinnan around 9am and cruise down the Loch watching and photographing the wildlife that we see, which will hopefully see the resident White Tailed Eagles active around the boat and the loch side. We sail the full length of the Loch to the village of Acharacle, and then do the journey in reverse in the afternoon back to Glenfinnan.
